HEROtsc’s MARK CROWNED HR MANAGER OF THE YEAR
HR Senior Business Partner at HEROtsc was last night crowned HR Manager of the Year.
Mark Beattie was one of three finalists in the prestigious annual awards ceremony, hosted by the HR sector’s industry bible, HR Network Scotland.
It’s the second major accolade for Mark, who was named HR Network Scotland HR Graduate of the Year 2007.
The judges were particularly impressed by Mark’s firm belief that excellence in people management lies within an organisation’s ability and commitment to manage, invest in and promote its greatest asset: the talent of its employees.
Mark, who joined HEROtsc three-and-a-half years ago, said: “I am overwhelmed to be awarded the HR Manager of the Year title – an honour I owe to the massive support I’ve received from my team and from HEROtsc HR director, Harry Hogg.
“It’s been a challenging year for HEROtsc, but we bounced back with a new client in Sky and exciting new opportunities. The implementation of the new HR strategy has been a key highlight in my year, and I am ecstatic that these achievements have been recognised by the judges in the face of tough competition.”
Mark’s philosophy that people are at the core of every business’s success stems from his diverse and extensive practical experience in HR across diverse sectors, including finance, telecommunications and broadcasting.
Mark – who achieved Chartered CIPD status within two weeks of graduating from Napier University’s MSc HRM course – has been instrumental in restructuring senior management teams during his three years with HEROtsc. He has steered a number of challenging, major company-wide projects at HEROtsc, including a collective redundancy consultation for more than 900 people.
Congratulating Mark, CEO David Turner said: “Mark is forever demonstrating his professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication in the many HR challenges that a business of our size faces. “He is truly compassionate and sensitive with people when having to lead the business through tough times. I know Mark would be the first to say that this award is a recognition for the whole HR team who are delivering the new policy and procedures to help make HEROtsc a great place in which to work. Under Harry Hogg’s leadership, the team have made some dramatic forward steps in creating the platform to deliver our strategic people goals.”
Commented Harry Hogg: “This recognition by his peers in the HR community is not only good for Mark – it’s also of significant value to HEROtsc. The stakeholders (employees, clients, shareholders and suppliers) in our business will view this as yet another positive message about the quality of our organisation and the great talent that exists to help serve our people, our clients and their customers.”
