New contract from Sky bring 370 new jobs as HEROtsc re-open Greenock site and add more staff in Falkirk.
Over 200 Scottish workers will again be working for HEROtsc in Greenock.
The company had no option but to close their Greenock operation this summer when their client moved work done there to an overseas company. But the bosses of Scotland’s biggest contact centre company promised they would work tirelessly to land new business and would re-open their Greenock site as soon as that happened.
And they have kept their word. This week the company clinched additional business to the work they already do for Sky – and that will mean a return to full operational status for the Greenock site. At the same time the company announced that further additional work for Sky will mean another 170 jobs for their Falkirk operation which already has over 300 employees working for the UK’s leading entertainment and communications company.
The company are launching an immediate recruitment campaign to fill almost 400 new jobs across the two sites and will soon start contacting former Greenock employees to ensure that the operation is up and running as quickly as possible.
HEROtsc Chief Executive Officer David Turner is delighted at this jobs boost – in particular the turn-around for their Greenock site.
“It was a very sad day when we had to tell our staff there was no work for them,” he recalls. “We had a strong and loyal workforce in Greenock and I knew how devastating the news must have been.
“I wished I could have waved a magic wand and found replacement jobs straightaway but that is not how it works in this industry – particularly during touch economic times. “But we said we would work round the clock to bring new business here and that’s what happened. Our sales team have delivered and I would like to thank them for their efforts.
“Now our next task is to get the centre back up and running as quickly as possible and our staff starting the training programme to learn the skills and knowledge that they will need to perform their usual HEROtsc top quality, professional role for our new clients.
“Increasing our Falkirk operation for BskyB so quickly underlines what a good effort has been made with a new client in a relatively short time frame and I look forward to building on that great start.”
Sky’s Director of Service, Kerri-Anne Miller said: “We are very pleased that this extension to our relationship with HEROtsc has meant more jobs for Falkirk and the re-opening of their Greenock site.
“These jobs have been created to meet continued strong demand for all our products – including phone and broadband. They’ll also support our successful campaign to make High Definition TV accessible to even more households across the UK and Ireland.”
